Polling and Data-Gathering
I don't mind this site. I think I would use it more as part of my blog or webpage where I could have students click and submit their answers on a computer. I don't really think right now I would use it during class as not every one has a cell phone or ipod to submit responces. I do think that they would like to do that in class.
Ok so I looked at my page and the top chart was the web voting widget so that students could click thier responce right from my web page or blog. That did not look like it worked. So above is the Live chart widget. I hope that works better. If not I don't know how much I would use it.
The forms in google docs was easy and agian I would have kids fill it out before we start new units to see where they are with thier understanding and then go from there. I also like that it is stored in google and that the students will have a google account making this easy.
Also I do not like that this form is not coming up in my blog. I might be doing something wrong if I am let me know.

Hi Christine, I texted an answer to the photosynthesis poll and watched the response change right before my eyes AND I sumbitted an answer on the computer via pollev.com and that was reflected on your blog as well so as far as I can tell it works!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, your google form shows up embedded in your blog just fine too so no, you aren't doing anything wrong. Sometimes you have to go to preview to see the changes when you embed content.
Finally, let me or Jackie know if you'd like to check out the ipod touches for your class (we have 37 of them). That way students could use them to submit polling answers in more of a mobile/clicker kind of way otherwise, yes, laptops would serve the same function.
Bravo! You've accomplished a lot in this post!
Show off....I hated poll everywhere and Emily called me a hater and did not offer me to check out the ipods. Sheesh.
ReplyDeleteI like Emily's idea. It would be nice to have the class set every once in a while for the kids that don't have one with them. I agree that these things would be best to see what the students know before teaching. Good application!
