Screencasting

It took me some time to find a way to record my voice.  My computer is older so I had to borrow a web cam.  I do have SMART on my computer so I used that for recording.  It worked well and is easy to use.  I really like the idea of being able to record some of my lessons.  They could be used by absent students so that they get all of the information that we discussed in class rather than just the things that were written down in notes.  I also like the idea of having some of the lessons taped so students can move ahead as they are ready in some of my units.  For example in my heredity lesson some kids pick it up quick and others struggle with the basics.  If the students are ready they could listen to the lesson and move on with the more difficult punnet squares.  Or if they need to be reminded on how to do them they could go to my web page to hear it again.  I really do not like listening to myself and it makes me feel a little odd, but I think that it could be a huge help for students.

  2. It is so lovely to hear your voice, Ms. Warden! Using the text, audio read aloud, highlighting, repetition and spontaneous elaboration, you made this topic very comprehensible! Well done and thanks for sharing!

  3. And I too, love your voice! Something tells me you could be a candidate for flipped instruction in the near future... very exciting! I also like the SMART Recorder and find it really easy to upload those video files to youtube if you want to store them there for students.
